Christopher was associate musical director and show pianist for David Friedman's Listen To My Heart, performed in association with Brute Farce productions at the Malborough Theatre, Brighton Fringe Festival in May 2006.

About the Show

Songs from one of America's greatest living songwriters in a sophisticated, funny and heartfelt theatrical revue – a thrilling and sometimes painful journey into the human heart, the songs of David Friedman brilliantly capture the human spirit in all its forms.

David’s previous work includes writing and arranging music for Disney’s classic Beauty and the Beast. Listen to my Heart stars Nikki Gerrard (Side by Side by Sondheim), Manny Lipman (Sunsets and Mornings), Betsy Pennington ( Footloose),Alan Richardson (South Pacific – Radio 2), Russell Whitehead (Voice of Musical Theatre Finalist) and is the European premiere of a new version, produced in close collaboration with David Friedman, based on his 2003 off-Broadway smash.

What the Critics thought...

Not a full-on musical, but a selection of songs by David Friedman (perhaps best known for Disney's 'Beauty And The Beast') seamlessly linked together across an hour of theatrical fun. Each of the five singers has a chance to shine with a solo piece, and they all prove to be passionate, animated and, above all, fantastic vocalists. Despite the stark stage and lack of costume, the show is carried by the strength of Friedman's music, and the singers bring the lyrics to life with their animated performances. A rare chance to see some fantastic musical theatre in an intimate setting without the usual extortionate ticket price.

This has been simply one of the most magical productions to be involved with. From recording with the BBC to singing in the streets... Brighton was an EXPERIENCE! Thank you to everyone at the Marlborough, to Joe for asking me to play, and to the cast of Listen to My Heart for being so wonderful. This experience and these memories are ones that 'time won't make disappear'!
